What Does Repointing Cost? Factors That Affect the Price

Every property is different, so there is no single price for repointing. Rather than quote figures that may not apply to your wall, it is more useful to explain what affects the cost.

Size and extent

How much wall needs doing is the biggest single factor. One exposed elevation costs far less than a whole property.

Access

Work at height, chimney stacks and anything needing scaffolding adds to the cost, because access has to be arranged safely.

Condition and preparation

Walls with very hard old mortar, or where careful hand removal is needed, take longer to prepare than straightforward joints.

Mortar and matching

The mortar specification, and the level of matching needed on visible or period elevations, affects both materials and time.

How to get an accurate figure

The only reliable way to know is to have the work assessed and quoted. Sending photographs when you first get in touch helps us prepare before a visit.
